Pongal is the one of the major festival in Tamil Nadu. It is the harvest festival and it consist two parts. One is Thai Pongal for Human beings and Mattu Pongal for cattle. Pongal is not only celebrated in Tamil Nadu, But also other Tamil speaking countries like Sri Lanka, Malaysia and singapore. Almost all glbal tamil population observe this day by making Pongal Kolam, Pongal Feast and exchaning Pongal Wishes to their friends and relatives, Sending Pongal Cards. I have seen Mattu pongal and it consist garlanding Cattle, Thanking them for helping us in farming work and giving a good lunch like human in Banana leaf.
